Garland’s 26 points Friday came with nine turnovers. Now the Clippers face an Oklahoma City defense that just held Denver to 84. Watch his first outlet pass under pressure, then whether Los Angeles finishes defensive possessions with a rebound. Beal, Ingram and Strus are among the Clippers ruled out.
The Clippers gave away the ball 26 times Friday; nine turnovers belonged to Garland. Oklahoma City arrives after holding Denver to 84. Watch whether Garland’s teammates present a short outlet when pressure comes, rather than leaving him to attempt a difficult cross-court pass.
Lopez supplied 22 bench points for Los Angeles, but rebounding matters too: Holmgren grabbed nine offensive boards against Denver. Shai’s record 141-game run of 20-point performances ended Thursday, and the Thunder still won. The Clippers remain without Beal, Ingram, Jordan Miller, Strus and Niederhauser in the reviewed report.
Darius Garland scored 26 against the Lakers, but nine turnovers came with them. The Clippers committed 26 as a team. Their next opponent just held Denver to 84 points. Oklahoma City makes this a pointed follow-up: can Garland organize an attack without giving the defense a head start in the other direction?
Garland also delivered six assists Friday, so the task is to preserve the creation while cutting the giveaways. Brook Lopez added 22 points off the Clippers’ bench. For Oklahoma City, know Jalen Williams as well as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Williams scored 21 against Denver on a night Shai finished with 17.
The Clippers’ missing players narrow the options. Bradley Beal, Brandon Ingram, Jordan Miller, Max Strus and Yanic Konan Niederhauser are all out in the 11:15 a.m. ET report. Oklahoma City lists Otega Oweh, Thomas Sorber and Nikola Topic out. Garland’s supporting cast matters, but those absent names are not tonight’s solution.
Watch Garland’s first pass after a defender crowds him. Does a teammate offer a short, visible outlet, or does he have to throw across the floor? Oklahoma City’s Cason Wallace had four steals and Ajay Mitchell five Thursday. Recognizing the help before the pressure arrives may be the Clippers’ most useful small improvement.
Shai’s record run of 141 consecutive regular-season games with at least 20 points ended Thursday. He scored 17; Oklahoma City still won. The streak had surpassed Wilt Chamberlain’s 126. It is a memorable reminder that a remarkable individual run and a team’s immediate needs do not always produce the same headline.
Our take: a good Clippers possession needs to survive at both ends. Holmgren collected nine offensive rebounds against Denver, so forcing a miss may not finish the job. Lopez’s 8-for-9 shooting Friday supplied efficient offense; watch whether Los Angeles can also secure the ball after an Oklahoma City miss.
The Clippers have lost nine straight in Oklahoma City, with their last win there coming in March 2020. Bring a more specific question than “Can they break the streak?” Ask whether their possessions look calmer under pressure. That gives you something to evaluate long before the final score decides the historical footnote.
Official report lists Clippers Bradley Beal, Brandon Ingram, Jordan Miller, Yanic Konan Niederhauser and Max Strus out; Thunder Otega Oweh, Thomas Sorber and Nikola Topic out. Source
