Ty Jerome scored 45 against Utah in the opener; Memphis now arrives 3–0 for the rematch. The Jazz just collected 20 offensive rebounds against the Lakers, so stay with their misses. Watch the first defender against Jerome, then the rebounders under the other basket. Both teams’ official morning injury reports were pending; participation is not confirmed.
Utah has already seen how hot Ty Jerome can get: 45 points in Memphis’s opening win. He scored another 31 against Sacramento Sunday, making all 14 free throws, and the Grizzlies are 3–0.
The Jazz offer more than a rematch storyline. Against the Lakers they scored 47 in the first quarter, then lost, while collecting 20 offensive rebounds. Ace Bailey grabbed six of those. Watch whether Memphis finds Utah’s rebounders before turning toward the rim.
Keep rookie Cameron Boozer in view too: 11 rebounds accompanied a difficult 6-for-21 shooting night Sunday. Our read is that the work after a miss could be as revealing as Jerome’s next basket. Both teams’ morning injury reports remained pending.
Utah already has a vivid introduction to this version of Ty Jerome: 45 points in Memphis’s 123–103 opening win. Five days later, the Jazz get another look. Jerome followed that opener with enough production to help the Grizzlies arrive 3–0.
For the viewer, the first question is wonderfully concrete: how far does Jerome get before a second Jazz defender has to make a decision about helping?
Jerome scored 31 against Sacramento on Sunday and made all 14 free throws. Memphis rookie Cameron Boozer added 16 points and 11 rebounds. The guard can command your attention, but keep track of Boozer when the shot goes up.
Utah counters with Lauri Markkanen, coming off 28 points against the Lakers, and Keyonte George, who had 24 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. George’s next pass is worth following as closely as his next attempt.
The Jazz put 47 points on the board in Sunday’s first quarter and led the Lakers by 18. They still lost 132–123. That makes the next stretch after an early scoring burst especially interesting: can Utah keep producing useful possessions once the initial rhythm fades?
Both teams played Sunday, and neither had submitted its Monday injury report in the reviewed morning update. Treat the featured players as people to recognize if available, not a confirmed lineup.
Utah’s misses were not always the end of its possessions Sunday: 20 offensive rebounds became 34 second-chance points. Ace Bailey alone collected six offensive boards. That is the ball to follow after a Jazz shot misses.
Watch whether Memphis finds the arriving rebounder before looking up at the rim. One defender can contest the shot while another still has a job to finish. The rematch has a second story happening underneath the basket.
Jaren Jackson Jr. now wears a Jazz uniform after his Memphis years, and he scored 20 against the Lakers. The opening-night meeting means this is already another chapter against his old team, not a first reunion. No revenge motive is needed to make the familiar face interesting.
Boozer shot 6-for-21 against Sacramento but still collected 11 rebounds. That combination makes his next response to a miss worth watching: does he remain active in the possession, or does the shot become the end of his involvement?
Our focus is the work after the first attempt. Utah just showed how many extra chances it can create. Memphis has a young forward contributing even when his own shooting is difficult. The rebound can keep this matchup interesting between Jerome highlights.
An easy opener: Utah scored 47 in the first quarter Sunday and still lost. Ask what changes after an offense has had its first big burst.
Then point out the other contest: Bailey had six offensive rebounds against the Lakers, while Boozer took 11 total against Sacramento. Who gets position before the next missed shot comes down?
October 26, 11:45 a.m. ET NBA report: neither Memphis nor Utah had submitted its report. Both played Sunday. Recent appearances do not confirm Monday availability, starting lineups or minutes; all player viewing cues are conditional on participation. Source
