The NBA-hosted preview reports Jalen Williams will miss Phoenix after Sunday’s injury; Oklahoma City’s official morning report was still pending. Booker comes off 43 points, Gilgeous-Alexander 34. Watch beyond that scoring duel: can Phoenix track cutters and secure the rebound, and who helps the Thunder create when the ball leaves Shai’s hands?

Oklahoma City’s win over the Clippers came with a difficult aftermath: the NBA-hosted preview reports Jalen Williams will miss Phoenix after a late injury. Other Thunder availability remained unresolved in the morning report.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 Sunday; Devin Booker arrives after 43 against Golden State. Ajay Mitchell’s 18 points and Alex Caruso’s six assists in the Clippers game give you two more Thunder names to watch.

Phoenix’s early problems include losing cutters and allowing offensive rebounds. Follow the action after a pass or a missed shot. Our read: the Suns’ attention during those quieter moments matters as much as the headline scoring matchup. No replacement Thunder lineup is assumed here.

FULL PRIMER

The Big Story

Oklahoma City won Sunday, but the result was overshadowed by Jalen Williams’s late injury. The NBA-hosted preview reports he will miss the Phoenix game. Cason Wallace and Jaylin Williams also left Sunday hurt, and the Thunder’s official Monday report was still pending in the reviewed morning snapshot.

That leaves a basketball question with no neat lineup answer yet: who can help organize the next possession when Phoenix turns extra attention toward Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?

Know These Names

Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 in the 108–101 win over the Clippers. Phoenix arrives with Devin Booker coming off 43 points, seven rebounds and seven assists against Golden State. Those two guards give a new viewer easy starting points.

Follow what happens when a second defender leans toward either one. Is a teammate ready to receive the pass, and can that teammate do something useful before the defense recovers?

The Plot Thickens

Phoenix beat Golden State 131–122, but the early defensive concerns survived the win. The NBA preview points to opponents getting behind defenders without the ball and a two-game average of 17.5 offensive rebounds allowed. Those are distinct ways to give away another scoring chance.

Try watching a Phoenix defender away from Booker’s end of the action. When the ball moves, does that defender still see the player cutting toward the basket?

Keep Your Eye On…

A Thunder miss is a good moment to keep watching. Isaiah Hartenstein had 12 rebounds against the Clippers. Phoenix needs the defensive possession to end with someone holding the ball, rather than everyone following its flight.

Chet Holmgren made two threes Sunday, too. When he is outside the arc, notice how far his defender follows and what space remains near the basket. That is a viewing cue, not a prediction of Oklahoma City’s next play.

Did You Know?

Ajay Mitchell contributed 18 points and three steals against the Clippers; Alex Caruso added 12 points and six assists. Their recent lines give you two names to recognize beyond Gilgeous-Alexander while the Thunder sort through uncertain personnel. Neither line announces a new starting job.

The FanFluent Take

Booker’s 43 did not require a barrage of threes: he made 17 shots overall, only two from outside the arc. Watch where Phoenix gets him a comfortable next catch before waiting for another huge total.

Our larger interest is Phoenix’s concentration after the first defensive effort. A Thunder team dealing with absences can still punish a lost cutter or an unsecured rebound. Fixing those moments would be a more meaningful sign than simply trading difficult baskets.

Conversation Fuel

A useful detail: 15 of Booker’s 17 made baskets against Golden State came inside the three-point line. His scoring night had more than one address.

And a Thunder name to have ready: Ajay Mitchell, who scored 18 Sunday. Watch his next decision when the ball leaves Gilgeous-Alexander’s hands, without assuming the injury situation has settled anyone’s role.
