Cleveland is still seeking its first road win after losing a 15-point lead in Atlanta, even with 24 points from Harden. Milwaukee just lost by 32 despite efficient nights from Herro and Jaquez. Watch Cleveland’s control between scoring runs and whether Milwaukee gets more help from the rest of its lineup.
James Harden scored 24 on 7-for-14 shooting against Atlanta, but Cleveland lost 114-111 after giving up a 15-point lead. The Cavaliers are 3-2 overall and 0-2 away, making Saturday a test of sustained control.
Milwaukee is 1-4 after Houston won 132-100. Tyler Herro scored 23 and Jaime Jaquez Jr. 19; Kuzma, Turner and Rollins combined to shoot 6-for-27, including 0-for-10 from three. Watch who helps Milwaukee’s productive scorers, and whether Cleveland finishes defensive possessions after its own offense cools. The injury snapshot below distinguishes current designations from confirmed lineups.
James Harden had a better shooting night, and Cleveland still left Atlanta with a loss. Saturday’s visit to Milwaukee asks a sharper question than whether the Cavaliers can score: can they turn their good stretches into a first road win? Cleveland is 3-2 overall and 0-2 away.
Milwaukee has a different response to make after a 132-100 home loss to Houston. At 1-4, the Bucks need a competitive night that does not depend on just two productive scorers.
Harden scored 24 on 7-for-14 shooting against Atlanta. Sam Merrill added 16 while making six of 11 shots, and Donovan Mitchell scored 22. Cleveland did not lack recognizable offensive contributions in the 114-111 defeat.
Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr. were Milwaukee’s leading answers against Houston: 23 and 19 points, respectively. Herro went 9-for-13; Jaquez went 7-for-13. Watch whether their next useful possession opens something for the players around them.
Cleveland let a 15-point lead disappear in Atlanta. The Hawks made 17 threes and won the boards 53-45. That creates a specific Saturday test: can the Cavaliers sustain control when their own shot-making stops carrying the game?
Milwaukee had beaten Indiana two days before the Houston loss. First-year coach Taylor Jenkins is looking for something that survives from one game to the next, rather than another promising result followed by a large setback.
Watch Milwaukee’s possessions after Cleveland takes away an initial Herro or Jaquez opportunity. Kyle Kuzma, Myles Turner and Ryan Rollins combined to shoot 6-for-27 against Houston. The Bucks need those possessions to end somewhere more productive, whether through a cleaner look or another pass.
Availability — October 31, 11:15 a.m. ET: Cleveland lists Jaylon Tyson out and Meleek Thomas questionable; the linked report contains additional Cavaliers absences. It supplies no Milwaukee player designations. That is not confirmation of a healthy roster or starting lineup.
Kuzma, Turner and Rollins also went a combined 0-for-10 from three against Houston. That is a single-game detail, not a verdict on their shooting. It does explain why a good night from Herro and Jaquez could coexist with a 32-point loss. Milwaukee’s response has to reach more of its lineup.
Our take: Cleveland should be judged on the stretches between its scoring runs. Harden and Merrill finding shots was useful; a lost lead and an eight-rebound deficit showed what that did not solve. Against a Bucks team searching for support around Herro and Jaquez, a controlled road performance would be more informative than another dramatic finish.
“Harden found his shot, but Cleveland still lost a 15-point lead. What would convince you the Cavaliers actually fixed something tonight?” Start with the rebounds and the possessions after a scoring run.
For Milwaukee: “Would a modest night from everybody be more encouraging than another big Herro night?” His 23 on efficient shooting did not prevent Wednesday’s heavy loss.
