Boston is 4–1 with four straight wins; Orlando is 2–3 and winless at home. Pritchard scored 30 against Chicago, while Wagner delivered 26 points and 11 assists in Orlando's win at Toronto.
Banchero and Suggs are out on the November 1, 11:15 a.m. ET report. Watch whether Orlando can keep several creators involved against Boston's range of scoring options.
Boston brings four straight wins to an Orlando team still seeking its first home victory. The Celtics are 4–1 and the Magic 2–3.
Pritchard scored 30 in Boston's 125–111 win over Chicago, with Tatum adding 26 and George supplying eight assists. Orlando's 121–114 win in Toronto featured Bane's 28 points, Wagner's 26 points and 11 assists, and Black's 17 points and 10 assists.
Banchero and Suggs are out on the November 1, 11:15 a.m. ET report. Boston is without Carter and Robinson.
Watch the second action: when the first drive is contained, can the offense move the defense again instead of settling for a difficult shot?
Boston arrives with four straight wins, but Orlando has a recent answer worth watching: a 121–114 victory in Toronto powered by several creators rather than one scorer. The Celtics are 4–1; the Magic are 2–3 and still looking for their first home win.
The question is whether Orlando can make Boston defend a whole possession. If the first drive gets stopped, watch whether the second action produces an easier shot—or simply a harder version of the first.
Payton Pritchard supplied 30 points in Boston's 125–111 win over Chicago. Jayson Tatum added 26, while Paul George paired 18 points with eight assists. That is a useful reminder to follow the passer as well as the player taking the shot.
Orlando's last win had its own trio: Desmond Bane scored 28, Franz Wagner had 26 points and 11 assists, and Anthony Black finished with 17 and 10. Watch which of them gets to attack an already-moving defense.
The November 1 report, issued at 11:15 a.m. ET, lists Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs out for Orlando, along with Jonathan Isaac, Izaiyah Nelson and Noah Penda. Boston lists Devin Carter and Mitchell Robinson out. These are timestamped designations, not projected lineups.
That makes the passing relationships from Orlando's last win especially interesting. Can the Magic keep producing useful touches for multiple players without letting the offense become predictable?
Boston finished its last game with 28 assists and 14 turnovers. Orlando had 30 assists and 13 turnovers in Toronto. Those are descriptions of two completed games, not promises that either offense will look the same today.
Try following three consecutive half-court possessions without watching the ball constantly. Does the weak-side defender stay attached to a shooter, or take an extra step toward the drive? That small decision can determine where the next pass goes.
The most obvious scoring line is not always the most revealing detail. Pritchard made all nine of his free throws against Chicago; Bane made six of 12 three-pointers against Toronto. Two productive nights arrived through different routes.
If either player starts slowly, look at the attempts before judging the performance. An open shot that misses and a rushed shot that misses look identical in the score column, but they tell you different things about the possession.
Boston's 4–1 record includes an 0–1 road mark, while Orlando is 0–2 at home. The Celtics' winning stretch and the Magic's home frustration therefore meet in a setting neither record alone fully describes.
Our viewing preference: look for sustained involvement rather than a spectacular opening burst. Orlando's last game showed several players sharing creation; Boston's showed several ways to score. The more interesting advantage may belong to the team whose second option keeps getting clean decisions.
Conversation starter: would you rather have Pritchard's 30-point night, or Wagner's 26 points with 11 assists? Those were real performances in each team's most recent game, but they ask different things of a defense.
Use the answer to choose what you watch. If you pick scoring, track how the shots are created. If you pick playmaking, track what happens after the first pass. Either approach gets you beyond simply waiting for the next highlight.
