The Spurs beat Minnesota 121–111 with 43 points and six blocks from Victor Wembanyama, 25 points from Dylan Harper and 22 from De’Aaron Fox. Utah’s most recent result was a 112–90 loss to Portland: Darryn Peterson scored 16, while Lauri Markkanen went 3-for-14. The Jazz shot 11-for-40 from three and lost the boards 48–37.

This is a rematch of San Antonio’s overtime win in Utah last Wednesday. Watch the players who benefit when the defense helps on Wembanyama. Utah’s Jackson and Nurkic were out; San Antonio’s Harris and Quaintance were out on the 11:30 a.m. ET report.

FULL PRIMER

The Big Story

Victor Wembanyama just scored 43, but Utah cannot spend the whole evening looking at one player. Dylan Harper and De’Aaron Fox added another 47 points in San Antonio’s 121–111 win over Minnesota.

The Spurs have won four straight and are 4–2. Utah is 1–5 after scoring 90 in a loss to Portland. The Jazz need both a defensive answer to San Antonio’s multiple threats and an offensive response of their own.

Know These Names

Wembanyama’s last line was 43 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. He made 17 of 34 shots. The volume is part of the story: Utah must deal with repeated involvement, not just a few spectacular possessions.

Harper added 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Fox had 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while making eight of 10 shots. Watch what those two can do when attention shifts toward Wembanyama.

The Plot Thickens

These teams already saw each other last Wednesday, when San Antonio won in overtime in Salt Lake City. That recent meeting gives the rematch a concrete point of reference without making the outcome predetermined.

The November 2 injury report at 11:30 a.m. ET listed Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jusuf Nurkic out for Utah. San Antonio listed Tobias Harris and Jayden Quaintance out. Those absences are relevant context for the frontcourts, not a reason to invent a starting lineup.

Keep Your Eye On…

Watch Utah’s choice after the first defensive help arrives. If extra attention goes toward Wembanyama, can the Jazz still make Fox and Harper work for their next opportunity? Stopping the first action is only part of the possession.

On offense, look for shots that come after the defense has moved. Utah made 29 of 78 attempts against Portland and only 11 of 40 threes. The task is not just to hope the same attempts go in this time.

Did You Know?

Darryn Peterson led Utah with 16 points against Portland, making six of 15 shots. Lauri Markkanen scored 13 but went 3-for-14 overall and 2-for-11 from three. The Jazz were also outrebounded 48–37.

Those numbers help explain why the conversation cannot be only about defending Wembanyama. Utah needs enough useful offense and completed rebounds to give its defense a chance to matter.

The FanFluent Take

San Antonio’s last performance is most interesting as a three-player problem. Wembanyama supplied the biggest scoring total, but Harper and Fox both added passing and rebounding along with their points.

For Utah, a better night would show up in connected possessions: a contested Spurs shot, a secured rebound, and a shot created with some advantage at the other end. Watch for that sequence before judging the game by a single highlight.

Conversation Fuel

Ask this: when Wembanyama gets the ball, whose next touch are you watching? Harper and Fox are good answers after their combined 47 points against Minnesota.

Then switch the question to Utah. Does Peterson or Markkanen receive the ball with the defense already moving, or with a difficult shot still to manufacture?
