Utah is 1–7 after losing 120–113 in New Orleans. Dallas is 4–4 after a 112–111 loss in San Antonio. The question is what each team can add around those leading scorers.

Irving led Dallas with 29. Naji Marshall supplied 22 on 9-for-12 shooting and made all three of his threes. Watch Marshall’s next touch when the defense is preoccupied with Irving or Cooper Flagg.
Irving, Santi Aldama and Max Christie are probable on the 3 p.m. ET report; Caleb Martin is available. Dallas lists Biberovic, de Larrea and Lively out. Probable is a designation, not a guarantee of minutes.

Our focus is the possession that looks ordinary: a clean catch, an available outlet, a secured rebound. Those moments can reduce how often a team needs a difficult shot to rescue it.
Would you choose Marshall’s 22 on 12 shots or Irving’s 29 as the more encouraging Dallas sign? They tell different stories about workload and efficiency.
For Utah, follow the pass after George has drawn attention. His nine assists show that the latest game contained more than scoring; the next question is how consistently that creation can become a useful team possession.
